To Whom It May Concern;
I met Chris Sweryda in February of 2022 when he was making presentations to members of Winnipeg City Council on issues related to the Department of Public Works and budgetary efficiency. I was so impressed with his research and presentation that I asked to hire him as an Executive Assistant, primarily in research capacity, in 2023, which he accepted on a billable-hours basis. I have been even more impressed since then.
While working together over the past 18 months, Chris has shown that same consistent caliber of research and advice that I was hoping for. I have found him to be thorough and logical, as well as reasonable and practical when it comes to dealing with the complexities of municipal government and with concerned citizens. He has also been quite able to provide information and advice that not everyone might wish to hear, though which I recognize as the right thing to do and beneficial to the decision-making process, for which I am grateful. His realm of work and life experience has been well applied as a political researcher. His background living in northern, rural and urban environments has already born fruit as it assists him in his comparative analyses on municipal and other governmental practices.
His hobbies and interests, applied with his education and abilities, have come to intriguing results recently. Chris has just accepted a 6-month contract with the Chalmers Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation (CNRC) in my ward, a contract for which he was personally approached, to start up the next phase of the CNRC’s food outreach program in the Chalmers neighbourhood, where he has already worked as Career Advisor at Elmwood High School. We look forward to his astute, insightful and practical approach as we delve into uncharted territory in this important community operation.
It is my intention to continue to employ Chris Sweryda as an Executive Assistant and Researcher, to the extent of the weekly time commitment that he can afford me, as he continues along his academic journey, and beyond. In this regard, I believe it is evident that I do recommend Chris Sweryda, on his merits as observed, for admission to the
Program of Masters of Law at the University of Manitoba. One can only imagine what a greater asset to our community he would be for it.
